Channel Chase Jarvis

Chase Jarvis

Hey friends! I'm Chase. I haven’t swashbuckled with pirates, nor have I swam the English Channel. I haven’t even been to Antarctica. But I have travelled to many far away places, created a lot of still and moving pictures for myself and others. And I’ve made it my life’s goal to be as creative as possible towards everything I endeavor. On a deserted island, I’d go insane without photography, film, music, or my wife Kate. Storytelling, creative innovation, and visual voodoo – no matter the medium – make my heart go thump thump; and sharing all this with the world makes my soul sing. I'm posting new content every week: // cjLIVE: A weekly show with world's best creators, innovators, and entrepreneurs. [Every Wed] // cjRAW: A series exploring creativity, hustle + other stuff you want to know. [Whenever!] Let’s be friends. Better yet, let's swim the English Channel.

Channel Y Combinator

Y Combinator

Twice a year we invest a small amount of money ($150k) in a large number of startups (recently 200). The startups move to Silicon Valley for 3 months, during which we work intensively with them to get the company into the best possible shape and refine their pitch to investors. Each cycle culminates in Demo Day, when the startups present their companies to a carefully selected, invite-only audience. But YC doesn’t end on Demo Day. We and the YC alumni network continue to help founders for the life of their company, and beyond.

Every person at least once in his life experienced dissatisfaction with his financial or social situation and wanted to change something in his life. Usually such thoughts appear at the moment of receiving your monthly salary and realizing how much of these funds you need to spend on a communal apartment, children, possible debts, etc. Having calculated the rest, you understand that this cannot continue any longer and something needs to be changed. But, unfortunately, these thoughts remain thoughts, since starting something of your own is a risk, and few are inclined to it, especially when you are over 30 years old, you have a family and monthly financial obligations.

Just about those people who were not afraid and made the decision to change their lives radically, and will be discussed in our section "Startups" on the service. These are ordinary people who, like each of us, were dissatisfied with their financial, and some with their social status. They always wanted more than the monthly salary of the average company clerk. Each of them made their choice and they started their own business.

Now, after many years, when they have become wealthy and self-sufficient people for a long time, these people tell beginners how to properly start their own business. The advantage of their stories is that they share their experiences and help beginners avoid those mistakes and costs that they could not exclude due to inexperience. Thus, the viewer gets the optimal business idea for starting his own business, taking into account the vast experience of predecessors.

Also, some startups who already have their own established and branched business will offer you a franchise.

What is a Franchise? For example, you want to open a small coffee shop. For this you have the desire and the initial capital. You can do it yourself without any support and get a ton of bumps. Or you can negotiate with the owners of large coffee chains, who will offer you their help on a franchise basis. This agreement assumes that you join an already existing network of coffee shops, pay the agreed amount, for which you are provided with a design solution for the arrangement of your coffee shop, help with the optimal choice of location, help in legal matters, and also provide the necessary rented equipment and goods (coffee, tea, liqueurs, cups, etc.). The manufactured coffee point will have the external branded appearance of the network with which you signed the franchise agreement, but it will be issued to you. Every month you will pay the network a small rent in the amount of 1-3%.
